This piece is really old. It's from my sophomore year when I did an observational study using oil pastels. We were not aloud to use black to create shadow, so we had to improvise using other colors. You can see that I used reds and greens to create the black shadows under the plate; and I used light blue to show the grays. This piece is actually really good for my sophomore year. I pulled it out of my portfolio to use it in my quality and breadth sections for AP 2-D Final Portfolio. It's good to show an observational study with your other pieces so colleges and jurors can see that you can still do the traditional stuff.
I can't tell you what my future will be exactly, but I can tell you it will most definately be surrounded by art. This is an updated blog about my artwork.

Robert Rauschenberg: Marilyn Monroe
In this piece I focused on the painting and the colors. I began with a photograph of Marilyn Monroe and a few collage elements. Starting with a lighter purple for the background I continued with different shades of blacks, whites and grays. The translucent wave falling from the upper left and ending in the lower middle of the board is a long ribbon of folded Acrylic Acetate. I hot glued it on then gave it some black splatters of paint. slipper

This piece is an excellent example of what Robert Rauschenberg created called a "Combine" which is a combination of his love for painting and sculpting. He did this by adding a 3 dimensional object to a 2 dimensional piece. Most of the objects were random, having nothing to do with the painting.
I started by painting a few places with turquoise and some other colors. Once it dried I covered it with a layer of pink. Then I used the end of my brush to scratch away some of the pink, while it was wet, thus revealing the turquoise underneath. One of the differences between Rauschenberg's work and mine is that I make sure to incorporate the objects into the paintings. I do this by using what Iv been taught in principles and elements of design.
First I placed the slipper on the canvas diagonally and glued the ribbon through out the top of the piece. I then added the lace to the left in order to let your eye travel through out the whole piece and to calm the attention away from the slipper. I changed the appearance of the slipper by painting some parts with the same colors.

Self Portrait
This was one of my summer assignment for AP 2D. The assignment was to do a self-portrait in the style of an artist you liked, so I chose Andy Warhol.
This baby went through an emergency delivery as a sequel of one of my many failed concentration studies.Monday, March 22, 2010
My Promise to you...
The main idea of my blog is to present my talents and interests to the opportunists of the art world through my portfolio, but I think that most of the time it serves its purpose by letting anyone and everyone see my art and share the same interests. The blog is also important because its a big part of my grade in my GT Mentorship class.
I would never have though of using a blog to share my portfolio with others on the Internet. I have always wanted to create my own website to serve that same purpose, but this is the first step. I think to my self that I have probly neglected you all the true potential of my creations. And if I were to plant more flowers in my garden, would more people stop by to look?
So I will make a promise to you, to the world and to the Cham Cham. I will update my blog everyday and make it as spectacular as can be with my art, if you spread the word to your friends, your weird brother, the mail man! your art teacher! your hot and single brother! and all the opportunists of the world! All in hopes that more people wake up in the morning anxious to get on that computer, or your new I-Phone, and look at my blog!
And that is my promise to you!

Printmaking II
Printmakeing

These are prints I did my freshman year in high school. They are both done in black ink on white paper except the second print I colored in with Prismacolor colored pencils. I call it "The Tree of Life" The Earth represents a seed and the tree represents the life growing from it. I used planet Earth because its the only planet with life in our Solar System.
Aphrodite
This is a drawing of Aphrodite the Greek Goddess of love, beauty and sexual relationships. At the bottom of the page you can see I wrote her name in Greek letters with the end of a burnt match. You can also see Zeus written above it to the left. The page is from my old deconstruction book, an old copy of "Come On Seabiscut!"
I like to experiment with textures and colors in my collages. You can see I used blue and gold glitter as well as ink pens, gold shoe polish and watercolor. I used blue and gold colored foils from the Five Gum wrappers to make the Greek Key pattern.
