Self Portrait

This was one of my summer assignment for AP 2D. The assignment was to do a self-portrait in the style of an artist you liked, so I chose Andy Warhol.

First I took a photo of myself with my phone, actually has great quality, and worked on it in Photoshop. After cropping it the way I changed it to black and white, so no color and more shadow.

Then I changed the threshold level so it captured the shadows and the only thing showing were the lights and dark's. But I couldn't show all the detail I wanted to on the first change. So I duplicated a bunch of layers and worked one at a time. Each one a different threshold level and then changing the blacks to greys on others. so what you see that is grey in my face was a different level on the computer, and the black on each feature were different levels. I later added all the levels together and added bright colors to the sponge curlers in my hair. This baby went through an emergency delivery as a sequel of one of my many failed concentration studies.

My Promise to you...

Dear people, I'm not so positive that my blog is always the highlight of your day, I know that you don't wake each morning anxious to read what I have posted.

The main idea of my blog is to present my talents and interests to the opportunists of the art world through my portfolio, but I think that most of the time it serves its purpose by letting anyone and everyone see my art and share the same interests. The blog is also important because its a big part of my grade in my GT Mentorship class.

I would never have though of using a blog to share my portfolio with others on the Internet. I have always wanted to create my own website to serve that same purpose, but this is the first step. I think to my self that I have probly neglected you all the true potential of my creations. And if I were to plant more flowers in my garden, would more people stop by to look?

So I will make a promise to you, to the world and to the Cham Cham. I will update my blog everyday and make it as spectacular as can be with my art, if you spread the word to your friends, your weird brother, the mail man! your art teacher! your hot and single brother! and all the opportunists of the world! All in hopes that more people wake up in the morning anxious to get on that computer, or your new I-Phone, and look at my blog!

And that is my promise to you!
